Shively Electric was founded in 1974 as a one-man, one truck operation by Richard Shively, of Franklin County. The company was incorporated in 1977, and grew to seven employees by 1984. Now, more than 30 years later, Shively Electric is still a locally owned company, employing 64 people, with a fleet of trucks and equipment, and offices both in Rocky Mount and Roanoke, to serve customer needs.

In addition to providing efficient, professional services, Shively Electric is community oriented, supporting youth athletics and local charities on a regular basis. Many of the Shively Electric team members are involved in their spare time, coaching youth sports and volunteering in the community, as is the owner himself. Shively Electric values its local roots, and many loyal clients, and firmly believes in giving back to the community that has helped the company to grow and to be successful.
